THIS IS A PRESENTATION THAT WE DID AT THE JOINT MEETING. SO I THOUGHT IT WAS APPROPRIATE TO DO IT HERE AS WELL, SO THAT ANY OF THE BOARD MEMBERS THAT WEREN'T AT THAT MEETING OR THE PUBLIC CAN SEE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING. NEXT SLIDE. OKAY. TO BEGIN WITH, ON THE PUBLIC WORKS SIDE, WE'VE GOT A FEW PROJECTS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON. THE FIRST [00:10:06] ONE IS THE UPTOWN ROADWAY AND DRAINAGE REPAIR PROJECT. IT'S NOT REALLY REPAIR. IT'S DESIGNED. WE GOT SOME GRANT FUNDING FROM THE FDOT TO DESIGN A DRAINAGE PROJECT HERE IN THE UPTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WE DON'T HAVE ANY FUNDING TO ACTUALLY DO THE PROJECT, SO WE'RE PROBABLY GOING TO PUT THAT ON THE SHELF. BUT WHEN WE DO HAVE REVENUE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, WE'LL HAVE THE DESIGN IN HAND. NEXT ONE IS THE SOUTHWEST LINCOLN STREET ROADWAY AND DRAINAGE PROJECT, THAT ALSO IS A GRANT FUNDED PROJECT THAT'S ALSO DOT TRYING TO WORK OUT THE PARTICULARS WITH THE DOT, BUT HOPEFULLY WE'LL BE STARTING THAT SOON. SEMINOLE DRIVE PROJECT. WE ACTUALLY GOT GOOD NEWS ON THAT TODAY, BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY ON SOME OF THE PARTICULARS OF THE GRANT. WE HAD TO WE HAD A HEARING A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU RECALL, BUT WE REMOVED PART OF THE PROJECT, A GENERATOR, BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE MONEY IN THE BUDGET. BUT WE FINALLY HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE FROM DEO THAT WE CAN MOVE FORWARD ON THAT PROJECT. SO HOPEFULLY SOON WE'LL BE STARTING CONSTRUCTION ON SEMINOLE DRIVE PROJECT. LAST IS ROADWAY REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE. WE PUT MONEY INTO THE BUDGET LAST YEAR, $270,000 TO START REPAIRING THE POTHOLES THROUGHOUT THE VILLAGE. SO WHAT WE DID WAS GOT A CONTRACT WITH A CONTRACTOR WHICH ENABLED US TO DO THE WORK. AND THEN WE WENT OUT AND FOUND THE WORST POTHOLES IN THE VILLAGE, GROUND THEM DOWN AND THEN PUT NEW PAVEMENT IN AS OPPOSED TO JUST FILLING POTHOLES. PART OF THAT PROJECT ALSO IS STRIPING. WE'RE TRYING TO STRIPE THE VILLAGE TO MAKE IT SAFER. WE HAVE STARTED STRIPING OVER HERE IN THE UPTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE WE PREVIOUSLY HAD STRIPED IN THE BOOKER PARK NEIGHBORHOOD AS PART OF THE DRAINAGE PROJECT OVER THERE, WE WERE ABLE TO STRIPE THE OTHER SIDE OF 710 OSCEOLA AND THE NEXT BLOCK OVER AND ALL THE SIDE STREETS. WITH THIS PROJECT, THE GOAL IS TO DO MORE NEXT YEAR, AND THEN YEAR THREE HOPEFULLY WILL HAVE REVENUE IN THE BUDGET THAT WE CAN ACTUALLY DO A PROJECT, WHICH WE DO EVERYTHING, DO IT, DO ALL THE INFRASTRUCTURE UNDER THE STREET AND THEN REPAIR THE STREET AT THE END. THAT'S THE LONG TERM GOAL. NEXT. WATER PROJECTS. FIRST ONE IS THE WATER PLANT PROJECT THAT IS THE EXISTING WATER PLANT. WE RECEIVED MONEY FROM THE STATE REVOLVING FUND TO REHAB THE EXISTING WATER PLANT. LAST MEETING, YOU APPROVED THE CONTRACT WITH KIMLEY-HORN SO THAT WE COULD DO THE DESIGN OF THAT PROJECT AND GET GOING. WE MET WITH THE ENGINEER ACTUALLY YESTERDAY, AND WE SHOULD BE GOING OUT TO BID FOR THE FIRST PHASE OF THAT PROJECT, WHICH WOULD BE TO REHAB ALL OF THE WELLS IN THE VILLAGE SYSTEM. NEXT ONE IS RAILROAD AVENUE, WATER MAIN. THAT'S KIND OF A WISH. WE HAVE A 100 YEAR OLD WATER MAIN IN THE VILLAGE THAT RUNS PARALLEL TO THE RAILROAD TRACKS, HENCE THE NAME RAILROAD AVENUE WATER MAIN. BUT THAT WATER MAIN IS 100 YEARS OLD, AND IT'S THE BACKBONE OF THE SYSTEM SYSTEM, SO THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE THAT. SO WE ARE SEEKING FUNDING AS WE SPEAK. 12 INCH WATER MAIN LOOPING PROJECT. THAT IS A WATER MAIN THAT WE'RE EXTENDING FROM FARM ROAD AROUND FARM ROAD TO SILVERFOX TO 710, AND THEN WE'RE COMING DOWN 710 TO THE COMMERCE PARK. WE ALSO, AS PART OF THAT PROJECT, ADDED A FORCE MAIN THAT GOES FROM THE COMMERCE PARK TO THE JUICE PLANT AT SILVERFOX THAT WILL ENABLE THE CUSTOMERS UP THERE TO BENEFIT FROM OUR WASTEWATER SERVICES. THAT PROJECT IS GOING TO BE DONE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. LAST IS 101ST AND OSCEOLA STREET. WE HAVE REALIZED FUNDING FROM CONGRESSMAN MATT'S OFFICE, BUT WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO IMPLEMENT A PROJECT YET. SO THAT'S ANOTHER PROJECT THAT WE'RE WORKING ON NEXT. SPECIAL WATER PROJECT. THIS IS OUR DEEP INJECTION. WELL, IF YOU GO DOWN ON THE PROPERTY AT THE WASTEWATER PLANT, YOU'LL SEE THIS BIG TOWER. WHAT THIS IS, IS ANOTHER GRANT FUNDED PROJECT. THIS WILL ENABLE US TO BUILD THE RO PLANT AND HAVE SOME PLACE TO PUT THE CONCENTRATE, WHICH IS THE WASTE FROM THE TREATMENT PROCESS. SO THE DRINKING WATER. WHAT MAKES THIS IMPORTANT IS THE TIMING IS WE'RE ALSO GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE IT AT THE WASTEWATER PLANT. THAT'S WHY WE CO-LOCATED IT AT THE WASTEWATER PLANT. IT MADE IT MORE ATTRACTIVE WHEN WE ASKED FOR FUNDING. BUT IT'LL SERVE TWO PURPOSES, SO THERE WILL BE MORE, WE'LL SAY ECONOMICAL THAT WE WERE ABLE TO FUND IT THE WAY THAT WE DID. IF YOU LOOK AT THE HANDOUTS THAT I GAVE YOU, WHICH THERE'S ALSO SOME ON THE BACK TABLE, THOSE ARE PICTURES THAT WERE TAKEN TODAY AT THE WASTEWATER PLANT. I'LL GO INTO THAT A LITTLE BIT DEEPER AFTER THE NEXT SLIDE. NEXT. WASTEWATER PROJECTS. HAVE I TALKED ABOUT WE'RE BUILDING A WASTEWATER PLANT. THAT'S SOME OF THE PICTURES THAT YOU SEE THESE THOSE WERE TAKEN TODAY. WE'VE STARTED THE FIRST TWO TANKS FOR [00:15:03] THE WASTEWATER PLANT IN THE PICTURE. THAT'S IN THE PRESENTATION, YOU'LL SEE THE GREEN COLORED PIPING ON THE LEFT. THAT'S THE EXISTING LIFT STATION THAT WAS AT THE WASTEWATER PLANT. IT HAD OUTLOOKS. IT HAD OUTLIVED ITS USEFUL LIFE LONG BEFORE I GOT HERE. WE'VE BEEN KEEPING IT GOING SINCE I GOT HERE. BUT IN COMPARISON, IF YOU LOOK AT WHAT'S ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PICTURE, THAT IS THE NEW LIFT STATION REPLACING THE EXISTING LIFT STATION THAT WAS ALSO FUNDED BY GRANT MONEY, THAT WAS ABOUT A $2 MILLION PROJECT. IT'S NOT COMPLETELY DONE, BUT IT'S OPERATIONAL. SO WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE THAT OTHER LIFT STATION OUT OF SERVICE NEXT. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, MANY THANKS. WE ALL, NOT ALL OF US, BUT A LOT OF THE PEOPLE IN THE ROOM HERE HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING IN THE SAME ROOM WITH THE GOVERNOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO OR A FEW WEEKS AGO NOW, WHEN THEY PRESENTED US WITH THAT CHECK FOR $22.5 MILLION, THAT CHECK BRINGS A TOTAL THAT WE'VE RECEIVED FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE TO $76 MILLION THAT WE'RE PUTTING INTO THE VILLAGE INFRASTRUCTURE. IF YOU LOOK AT ALL THE PROJECTS THAT I HIGHLIGHTED, MOST OF THEM ARE PAID OUT OF THAT FUNDING THAT WE RECEIVE FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE. SO, AS THE SLIDE STATES, I'D LIKE TO THANK THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE. SENATOR HARRELL, REPRESENTATIVE OVERDORF, REPRESENTATIVE SNYDER, OF COURSE, THE COUNCIL, OUR VILLAGE MANAGER AND THE STAFF, BECAUSE WITHOUT EVERYBODY WORKING TOGETHER, WE WOULDN'T GET TO WHERE WE'RE GOING. AND OF COURSE, A SPECIAL THANKS. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT JOSH CHALEM AND KEVIN POWERS HAVE PUT A LOT OF WORK IN UP AT TALLAHASSEE TO ENABLE US TO RECEIVE THIS FUNDING. WE POURED CONCRETE A COUPLE DAYS AGO FOR THE FOUNDATION FOR THE FIRST TWO TANKS. WE'RE GOING TO BE PUTTING SIX TANKS UP EVENTUALLY. THEY'RE ACTUALLY STARTING TO PUT THE WALLS OR SET THE BOTTOM PIECE OF THE WALLS TODAY. AND WHAT YOU SEE IS JUST A FEW DIFFERENT PICTURES OF WHAT'S GOING ON THERE. BUT THEY WERE TAKEN TODAY. AND AGAIN, I CAN'T STATE ENOUGH, BUT THE THEME OF THIS IS WITHOUT THIS GRANT FUNDING THAT WE'VE RECEIVED, WE WOULD NOT BE DOING ANY OF THIS WORK. WE WOULD BE PUTTING BAND-AIDS ON WHAT WE HAVE. SO QUESTIONS. THREE. WHAT'S THAT? WHAT'S YOUR TIME FRAME? TIME FRAME? THE WASTEWATER PLANT. WE HOPE TO HAVE IT IN OPERATION BY JUNE 20TH OF 26. THE DEEP INJECTION. WELL, THAT SHOULD BE DONE. THEY'VE GONE 1800 FEET THERE. THE PLAN IS TO GO AROUND 3000FT, OR ABOUT 1800. NOW WE HOPE TO GET IT ONLINE JANUARY, FEBRUARY. BUT WE HAVE TO TEST IT. WHICH LEADS TO ANOTHER A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT ARE NOT ON THE SLIDE BECAUSE WE JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS OR ACTUALLY PUT IT IN MOTION. WE ARE GOING TO BE DRILLING WITH THAT $22.5 MILLION. BUT WE'RE GOING TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS BECAUSE WE STARTED TESTING THE GEOLOGY WHILE WE WERE DOING THE DEEP INJECTION WELL. THAT RELATES TO A NUMBER OF MATTERS. IT RELATES TO THE COUNTY'S ACQUISITION OF CONSERVATION LANDS. BUT BUILT INTO THAT STATUTE IS ALSO THE FACT THAT THOSE MONIES ARE SHARED WITH THE MUNICIPALITIES WITHIN MARTIN COUNTY. AND THOSE MONIES CAN BE USED NOT JUST FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CONSERVATION LAND, BUT FOR INFRASTRUCTURE RELATED PROJECTS, CAPITAL PROJECTS, INCLUDING RELATED LAND ACQUISITION. SO THAT'S A VERY LONG WAY OF SAYING EFFECTIVELY, AT THE ACQUISITION OF THIS PROPERTY BEHIND VILLAGE HALL CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH THAT VERY NARROW BUCKET OF FUNDS, SO THAT THOSE FUNDS, JUST AS A REMINDER, CANNOT BE THROWN INTO THE GENERAL FUND, CANNOT BE USED TO PAVE POTHOLES OR DO ALL MANNER OF OTHER THINGS THAT WE NEED TO DO IN THE VILLAGE. IT CAN ONLY BE USED FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS AND LAND ACQUISITION RELATED TO THAT. SO THIS IS AN EXPENDITURE THAT CAN COME OUT OF THAT VERY NARROW FUND TO DATE.
